Our Story

Urban Renewal Group brings together a team of experienced professionals with deep expertise across all areas of the building and construction industry. With more than 40 years of international experience, our team has worked across residential development, building upgrades, structural improvements, and complex urban construction projects.

Our company is built around the strength of its people. Urban Renewal is made up of construction specialists, engineers, planners, architects, and project managers, each bringing professional knowledge from their respective fields. This multidisciplinary approach allows us to understand not only how buildings are constructed, but how existing structures can be carefully improved, modernised, and extended while maintaining their integrity.

We understand that the process of redeveloping or upgrading an existing building can feel daunting for owners and residents. From early concept design through planning approvals, permits, and construction delivery, there are many stages that require careful management and expertise.

That is where Urban Renewal shines: With decades of experience and a team of specialists across each part of the process, we work to guide projects step by step through the legal, planning, design, and construction requirements. Our role is to coordinate the right professionals, manage the complexities, and ensure that each stage is handled with care and professionalism. With little hassle to you we can transform these dwellings into modern, well-designed homes while supporting the future of Melbourne’s urban communities.

our story

We all know Melbourne is one of the world’s most liveable cities, built on strong neighbourhoods and established communities. Across many of these areas, apartment buildings constructed in the 1950s through the 1970s continue to provide valuable housing close to transport, jobs, parks, and local services. While these buildings remain structurally sound, many are ageing and no longer reflect modern expectations for design, sustainability, and accessibility.

At Urban Renewal we see this not as a problem, but as an opportunity.

Rather than replacing older buildings, we believe there is significant value in improving what already exists.  In many cases, careful renewal can also introduce additional housing in well-established areas without placing pressure on new land or infrastructure.

This approach is also better for the environment. Reusing and upgrading existing buildings can significantly reduce the environmental footprint associated with demolition and new construction. By strengthening, modernising, and improving older structures, it is possible to reduce waste, conserve materials, and make better use of the infrastructure that is already in place.

By working with owners, residents, and local stakeholders, we aim to unlock the potential within Melbourne’s older apartment buildings and help transform them into modern, efficient homes that continue to serve the city for decades to come.

Revitalising an older apartment building can create meaningful benefits for both owners and the wider community. By carefully upgrading and modernising existing structures, it is possible to improve living conditions, increase property value, and extend the life of the building while respecting the neighbourhood it sits within.
